Avant-Garde Egg Dyeing

Happy Easter!  Not surprisingly, Ali and I procrastinated egg dyeing until today.  After hard-boiling some eggs, with Pennsylvania's own Doc Hinkle's dye at the ready, we set to work.

Originally, we were going to try to paint our eggs in a theme, such as the "Royal Wedding," but we quickly realized that far surpassed our abilities.  Believe it or not, these eggs were NOT painted by 8-year-olds.

I decided to try making watercolor valentines for something to do. I bought some heart lace scrapbook paper and tacky glue spray, but managed to find everything else at home, including envelopes from my college graduation announcements (ha, knew I hung onto those for a reason).

I've been meaning to do this for weeks now, but, being a procrastinator, delayed until it's too late to snail-mail them. There's always next year...

Groundhogs Good for Something

Happy belated Groundhog Day! I'm a day late, but uh, I had stuff to do yesterday. :P It's a silly holiday and I'm no fan of groundhogs, but as a Pennsylvanian, I feel a modicum of loyalty to Punxsutawney Phil. As happens every year, I forgot to make my first words of the day, "Happy Groundhog Day," which according to my neighbor, is good luck. Ah, well, at least Phil didn't see his shadow (early Spring!) like the groundhog in this 1930 Disney short film entitled Winter.
